Proofreading is done once all edits, copyedits and revisions are made to your manuscript. This is that final check, your final eyes, that all is as it should be.
Spelling – I’ll find misspelled words and streamline US/BRIT spellings
Omissions – I’ll find the pesky places where words have been left out (or even extra words added in)
Punctuation – I’ll give you any tips to make those sentences flow and point out any missed punctuation
I have a keen eye for the little details and a knack for nuances.
Are you consistent with your use of apostrophes: Charles’ or Charles’s?
What’s that character’s name: Stacey or Stacy?
Titles I've Worked on
NOTE: I usually proofread for three hours per day, consisting of approximately 25k words. To that end a manuscript of 35k would be booked for 2-3 days, 63k would be booked in for 3-4 days, 99k would be booked for 4-5 days.
I can and have done proofreading for new releases but I also do retrospective proofreading for works that are to be re-released, released as box sets or as a new edition.
